The Planetarium has a 236-seater hemispherical theatre housing a modern fully computerised projector, which depicts the heaven on a hemispherical dome. The planetarium presents to the visiting public and students audio-visual programs on various themes in astronomy. The latest astronomical phenomena are brought to life in a simulated environment. It is a voyage of discovery for both the young and the old as it brings to life celestial phenomena that are replete with special effects.
The Planetarium regularly conducts shows and there are courses, seminars and workshops on astronomy which are held from time to time. The popular exhibits of the centre include Solar System, Cycle of Stars, Sky and Seasons, Comets, Man on the Moon.
The Planetarium houses eight galleries - Physical Science, Electronics and Communication, Energy, Life Science, Innovation, Transport, International Dolls and Children and Materials Science. This centrally air-conditioned complex also houses a sound studio, classroom and seminar hall.
Public interested in catching the stars or having a look at the meteoroids can make a visit and the show featuring night watching is held on specific dates.
