He held an exhibition of his works in the first week of March at the Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery, Chennai. Invite had words from film actor Sivakumar, “To draw a stippling drawing requires same skill and patience as to deck a golden pendant with cut diamonds and polished rubies. These stippling drawings will most certainly fascinate the connoisseurs of traditional art. I whole heartedly wish my friend all the best and earnestly hope that you will greatly enjoy our traditional sculpture captured in drawings of Modern Realism”.
I had the good fortune to view this art exhibition. The half hour I spent viewing his 24 pieces transported me to the World Heritage Site, Mahabalipuram. The display was all based on the sculptures and temples in Mahabalipuram, the cultural centre of Chennai. All the drawings were prepared by the thin rotring pen with black dots on white art board. The collection of dots strategically placed suggests forms, shapes, contrast and depth and the resulting image contains no lines. Every picture was a treat to the eye and each took him more than a month's time to complete. The drawings were glittering and attractive, very beautiful and invaluable.

The artist, P Chandrasekaran was born in the year 1942 in Melur near Madurai district. He possessed a natural talent to draw and used to try and copy pictures from magazines right from the time he was in primary school. When he was in high school, he was inspired by a senior who had joined ‘The School of Arts’, Chennai. He underwent the Diploma in fine arts in Govt. College of Arts and Crafts in Chennai during the period 1959 - 1965. He then worked in different companies as an artist. Since 1992, he has specialised in stippling work and has to his credit over 3000 sketches done for the WISDOM magazine.
The exhibition was inaugurated by his friend from college film actor Sivakumar and stalwarts like Dr. Padma Subramaniam attended and appreciated the artist’s work. Art lovers would most certainly encourage this beautiful art and admire this artist and the beauty he has presented through his ingenious drawings.
