Cruise in Top Gear

Salvation, renunciation, state of desire-less life, merge the athma with the Paramathma and many such spiritual destinations seem so farfetched to the common man who works his heart out for his survival.  If anything, the common man prefers to know, “Will spirituality help me live my day to day life better with tangible benefits?”

The answer is a big yes and its best understood with a simple example of a car with five gears and a tank full of petrol. A human being is a composition of five personalities, Physical– the body, Mental – the mind, Emotional – the feelings, Intellectual – the intelligence and Spiritual– the force within. Apart from these 5 personalities there is ‘life energy’ which enlivens him for a span of time, the absence of which leads to death.

Now let’s take a car which has 5 gears and a full tank of petrol. The car optimizes its petrol when it drives smoothly on the 5th gear. It gets maximum fuel efficiency and speed if it can drive uninterrupted in the 5th gear and that we all know. If traffic jams or interruptions occur, then we are forced to brake, change gears to lower levels depending on traffic and then operate in those lower gears. But in that case the fuel efficiency, speed and efforts to keep an eye on traffic, shuffling between accelerator, clutch, brakes and gear are frequent.

Now this is similar to life also – with a full tank fuel called ‘life energy’ and each personality can be related to the gears of the car with physical being the 1st gear and spiritual being the 5th gear.  When man operates out of any lower personality the outcome in the journey of life will be that much more challenging, shuffling between thoughts, emotions and actions, lesser efficiency leading to emotional and physical stress thus leading to a non-optimum realization of life.

When man lives for the demands of his physical needs then the fuel called life energy gets used up more in comparison of the results it may produce otherwise.  Likewise when he lives to the whims and fancies of the mind then its oscillation drives his life than he driving it and its erratic results uses up more of life energy and is equated with the efficiency of the 2nd gear. The emotions of a human being produce great results when positive and catastrophic results when it is negative thus being equated to the 3rd gear efficiency. Living life out of one’s intellect is almost the best way to live where one’s intelligence precedes over the demands of the body, vagaries of the mind and the turbulence of emotions. The average social intelligence that man acquires in the society in itself is stupendous when applied on his day to day living and most successful people of our society operates out of this personality and this is similar to driving the car on 4th gear wherein one gets substantial speed, optimization of fuel and close to the best that we can drive.

Above all this is the ability to operate out of the spiritual personality which exposes man to optimization of life energy available because it leads him to being able to use the cosmic intelligence and articulates the existential order to work in his favour – its like the 5th gear, so to say, where our life drives itself without any emotional traffic jams, without any shuffling between conflicting thoughts, actions and desires and driving life in cruise mode, not even having to use the steering.  It’s this stage which is explained by timeless intelligence as the state of ‘least effort, maximum results’, a state of surrender to the source and being aligned to activate the powerful gear within man to make the maximum out of one’s life.

Lets raise to align ourselves to the power within, let the journey in top gear begin, set cruise and go…
