Very well established, she has another branch at Anna Nagar, Chennai. She heads a recognized Training Institute approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and approved by Cicy and Guilds International, UK. She has undergone special training in France, GUINOT for Whitening facial and she is the only one to have launched that cream in India. She is conducting regular classes in Malaysia & Singapore and other countries. She recollects that all these became possible because her passion to become a beautician was kindled in very early childhood.

“My father, Late Isari Velan was an actor and I remember he used to come back from his shoots donning full make-up. It intrigued me even then, as I wondered about the transformation that could be effected by make-up and I decided to become a beautician. It was my only career option and I pursued the Government Diploma and National apprenticeship with zeal and was later trained by the famous beautician Shameena Shah.”

                           

Mahalakshmi opened her parlour in 1991 and she has constantly been educating herself, upgrading her techniques in keeping with the trend, gaining experience and expertise over the years. She spreads her knowledge about Indian beauty techniques in other countries which has been welcomed and received with excitement and fervour. Here in Chennai, she has the state-of-art infrastructure to handle permanent hair removal laser treatments for which she underwent a course in the U.S. About 100 women are employed by Maha Beauty parlour in different capacities.  

Mahalakshmi exclaims a lot of small things go a long way in enhancing facial features. After she works on women, it gives her immense satisfaction to see them admiring their own looks in front of the mirror, with a sparkle in their eyes. She enjoys the fact that women come to her for all good occasions in their lives and she feels she is celebrating with them. She is also happy that a lot of women even start their own beauty parlours on successful completion of her course. 

She enjoys the support and endorsement of her family in all her endeavours and this has helped her to move ahead step by step and make a mark for herself. This noble hearted woman not only wants to give joy to women by working on their looks, but aims at ensuring that more women can empower themselves by pursuing a career in the beautician field.
