Vanniarajan, a software professional and an ardent student of science has taken the effort to gather different topics in science written by eminent educationalists and professionals. This is aimed at kindling the spirit of science in youngsters and is planned as a monthly issue.
I had a chat with Vanniarajan and he explained “This is one of my initiatives to bring quality reading to students and help them understand basics more thoroughly. I felt there were not enough quality journals available for stimulating the scientific mind and there was a gross need for the same. So, I approached several retired professors of leading institutions and professionals from the corporate sectors and explained my idea to them. The response was overwhelming and my dream came true when I held the first copy of Elements last month, nearly five years after I had the first trigger”.
“I have been very lucky in my student days to have been taught by noble teachers who had a quality approach to education. Inspired by my mentors and the urge to contribute to the student community, I have taken this first step. The journal named ‘Elements’ will be available at a very economical price that can be afforded by one and all. It is a combined effort by all the authors, designers, publishers and distributors and I am just co-ordinating the entire cause.”
Vaniarajan expressed that the concept received a lot of encouragement and support from Eurekha publishers who has undertaken the publishing and is also responsible for the distribution. The team is open to receiving volunteering work in any capacity as the journal will be released as an open and collaborative model. He is confident that ‘Elements’ which deals with several aspects of the fundamentals in science is sure to penetrate into the student community and help them dwell and nurture on ideas of researching into science and hence contribute to the scientific development of our country.
