Drive to be on her own, time on hand and the interest to pursue something constructive induced Jansi Rani a home maker to get into the catering industry. Seven years later, she is well established and as passionate as she was when she began to give quality home made food to corporate employees.
Rani explained ‘Cooking interested me and I felt I had got some expertise having been cooking for my family for ten years after marriage. I decided that was an area where I could do something useful and the idea materialised into ‘Annam catering services’ in 2003 with a lot of encouragement from my family. I did a catering course and then started training people to cook. After one year, I started supplying lunch for one of the most popular software development firms in Chennai’.
‘It is a women oriented venture and the people were impressed with both the quality of food and the care we gave when we served the food. From then on, we have been supplying to more corporates. We take party orders and soon we are starting breakfast and dinner services. We are also equipped to set excellent kitchens in other premises’.
Rani went on to say that she had reliable and trained staff who could handle orders and execute them very well living upto the standards expected by the customers. As they were well experienced they could handle orders with efficiency and ease. She said that they ensured quality and freshness by not stocking food or raw ingredients. They were all purchased on a daily basis.
Rani is always experimenting with food and hence can bring about innovative tastes to help customers have different varieties. She went on to add that she is very happy with what she is doing as it gives a lot of satisfaction to feed people with home made food.
Rani plans to expand Annam catering so that more people can satisfy their palates with great taste. Chennai Chimes wishes this entrepreneur a wonderful journey of spreading the fragrance of good food and touch many more hearts through the stomach.

While there are countless male caterers, it was really a goodnews from Chennai Chimes and that a lady caterer is being given a mileage. I wish Jhansi Rani all the best in her noble profession. Keep it up.
