Three women graduates of criminology from the University of Madras, Prasanna, Usha Rani and Hema Ramachandran took a bold step and started a Centre to offer support services to domestic violence. 

Twenty year old Pradeep (name changed) lost his vision when he was a 10 year old boy, due to a severe drug reaction. The cornea of both his eyes was made opaque and his vision so reduced that he could only perceive light or dark. His parents believed that a ‘Breakthrough Surgery’ would be available in India and so they kept coming down to the Chennai based Sankara Nethralaya from Orissa for almost 10 years.
